Underfloor heating and prefabricated HVAC solutions for a landmark skyscraper in Gothenburg

Karlatornet is a new skyscraper in the Karlastaden development in Gothenburg.

Underfloor heating is becoming increasingly common in multi-family buildings and offers several advantages. It improves indoor comfort while supporting lower energy consumption. It also provides greater architectural freedom because there are no radiators to accommodate.

The apartments in Karlatornet feature large window areas, making underfloor heating particularly suitable. LK also supplied prefabricated drainage assemblies, prefabricated cabinets and several other products, providing a complete LK solution for the project.

Karlatornet was scheduled for completion in 2024. At a height of 246 metres, it was planned to become Sweden’s tallest building. LK became involved at an early stage and worked with Bravida to develop solutions for the underfloor heating installation.

“Underfloor heating was a requirement from the developer, and LK provided us with the best solution,” says Bosse Strand, Department Manager at Bravida.
