El-Kretsen
El-Kretsen has existed since 2001 and was created by the electronics producers’ trade organisations to dispose electronics that has been put on the market. The task is to aid producers in fulfilling their producer responsibility by offering a nation-wide collection system.
The electronics and batteries collection and recycling system of El-Kretsen is divided into two categories. One that is mainly intended for households and one for businesses.
Electronics and batteries at the end of their useful life are transported to one of our contracted specialized recycling plants to be taken apart. After they have been disassembled and sorted, different components are turned into new raw materials or energy, and hazardous waste is taken care of.
The purpose of El-Kretsen is to aid its member companies – the producers on the Swedish market – in fulfilling their producer responsibility. All companies that sell electronic products or batteries also have a responsibility for these when they become waste. With its collection system El-Kretsen fulfils this requirement for its 2,000 member companies.
The producer responsibility is the heart of El-Kretsen, and it is regulated in the directive on electrical and electronic equipment, SFS 2005:209, 210, and the battery directive, SFS 2008:834.
